Does The Catholic Church Forbid Sex Outside Of Marriage, Or ALL Sexual Activity?

Sun, Sep 6, 2009

General

I always hear that the Catholic Church forbids pre-marital sex.

Now, does this only mean sex, as in penetration, or ALL sexual activity of any kind outside of marriage?

Like blowjobs, handjobs, fingering, S/M activity….

I’m asking because I want to know if there is a distinction between the act of sex and sexual activity?

Obviously, the Church does not forbid all sexual activity.

The Virtue of Chastity demands no sex outside the marital union.

    That is true.

<<Now, does this only mean sex, as in penetration, or ALL sexual activity of any kind outside of marriage?>>

You may hug and kiss your significant other – but nothing beyond that as it could very easily constitute a temptation to sin by "going all the way".

    <<Like blowjobs, handjobs, fingering, S/M activity….>>

Sorry, none of that until marriage.

Again, you may hug and kiss your significant other – but nothing beyond that until marriage.

Sex is a Sacred Act – the consumation of the Marital Union. Therefore, any sex that takes place outside the context of the marital union constitutes the defiling of something Sacred. It would not be sex, it would be fornication – and nothing good comes from fornication.

The Catholic Church forbids all sexual activity outside of marriage like those you’ve mentioned above and also masturbation. There is no distinction between sexual activity and sex, in both cases you’re giving something away that belongs only to your future spouse.
