This is a drug that is on trial for sexual dysfunction in both men and women. One of the side-effects is increased blood pressure, but I don’t know how much it increases nor what other side effects it might have.
PS
Also what about the tanning product melanotan II which seems to have a similar chemical basis. Does it have similar side effects, and which products have it or are in development that use it.

As you may know, Bremelanotide was recently ’sent back’ for retesting by the FDA when submitted for approval to be used with men experiencing erectile dysfunction. The only complication published for why it was sent back is higher blood pressure. The FDA also indicated Brem might be suitable for second line treatment – ie. for individuals who don’t respond to standard treatments like viagra.
I don’t recall them publishing exactly how much the BP increase was.
Other side effects I’ve read about include primarily flushing (face gets red – maybe as a result of higher BP) and nasal congestion; likely because Brem is taken via a nasal mist like Drystan is.
Infrequent side effects like nausea may be dose dependent, and in fact the highest dose tested wasn’t as effective as a lower dose was, so side effects will be less frequent and less noticeable than some test patients reported.
Re: Melanotan II
IIRC, there was an original product that was being tested for tanning, and it was discovered that product not only created a tan but also sexual arousal and weight loss. So they "separated" that original product to create one for tanning, one for sexual arousal (Bremelanotide), and one for weight loss….not sure of the exact details, but essentially that’s what happened. I don’t recall offhand if Melanotan II is the original or derivative tanning product.
So the original product for tanning will create sexual arousal too, but the derived tanning product does/should not.
