im taking lexapro an anti depresent and one of the side effects is sexual dysfunction at first it was just hard 2 get orgasm but now it seems imposible to get an erection, so far ive only tryed getting and erection for masterbation but on the weekends when i will be having sex with my girlfriend it will be probley imposbile.
im only taking 5 mg of the pill, thats half a pill and the recomended smallest douse is 10mg im taking 5.
im 16 years old and im a boy.
i was wondering do the side effects of pills usually go away after a while or do i need to change my perscription
please help me this is driving me insain

most atypical anti-depressants cause dysfunction, Lexapro is also has anti anxiety benefits. I’ve got a 16 yr old son who is on Wellbutrin CR and his older gf is always grossing me out with stories of their sexual adventures, from what I understand, sexual side effects are extremely rare with WellbutrinCR vs paxil, prozac, effexor, etc.

Pretty much everything but Wellbutrin will cause sexual side effects (aka no orgasm). They do go away after you stop taking the meds, even if you’ve been on them a long time.
Try Wellbutrin, or at least ask your doctor about trying it.

I was on Lexapro and I had the same problem (no orgasm)… but that was cured when I went off the medication.
I was taking Lexapro as a depression med for bi-polar and my doctor switched me to Abilify 10 mg with better results (no sexual side effects either).
I think you need to switch to something else. I don’t think it will go away on its own.
