there are actually a host of other secondary conditions that could have been exacerbated by his alcohol abuse that can cause erectile disfunction. these include; diabetes, blood pressure issues, prostate issues, even sleep apnea.
has he had an overall checkup by your doctor, (including blood work). remember, alcohol breaks down into sugar & can overtax certain organs,………….

if its important to both of you, see the doc as soon as possible!

edit; some medications can lower libido as well,…

One should have nothing to do with the other unless he is such a chronic alcoholic that he has done serious damage to his body. AA recommends that a person does not enter a *new* relationship for at least the first year of sobriety but I remember nothing having been said about loosing interest in an existing relationship.

Edit: If you are pregnant your husband must have been "up to the task" a couple of months ago. It may have more to do with your pregnancy than his recovery. The pressure of trying to get pregnant (if that is the case) may have caused his past performance problems and now that you are pregnant that may be the problem. Some men are not as interested in sex with their pregnant partners because they now think of them as mothers instead of wives.

Well, I’m female, quit drinking 10 years ago and had a heck of a time in this area for quite a while. I think a couple of things cause this problem. First, there can actually be some nerve damage going on that takes a while to heal. Second, some of us "alcoholics" have not had sex sober in years…and we really don’t quite know what to do (and it’s a bit embarrassing to admit it).

If your husband has only been sober a little while, just have some patience. It might take several months, even a year, for him to be okay.
