Why should the schools be prevented from teaching that gay sexual activity is dangerous?

Sat, Sep 12, 2009

General

First, not making a moral judgment about it!!!!

Secondly, I can’t help but ignore how much risker it anatomically, the spread of disease, etc. I know everyone is freaked out at not offending anyone, but to me, it’s cruel not to warn school kids that type of activity is really dangerous. Anal sex is the ideal act to transmit the HIV virus and other serious diseases.

Thoughts?

Schools should only be required to teach academic courses.

Parents should be the ones who teach moral principles and unfortunately, most children who are abused are abused by family members or trusted "adults", who have a vested interest in making this seem "normal" activity. And also, most children who are abused are abused by family who are religious. You can argue this all you want, this is the truth. Religion=repression – not a good combination. And so it goes…

How many elementary school students are out there making decisions about having anal sex? Granted, there is a frighteningly large % of abuse of young children, but this a State issue and a children’s services issue.

Where are the parents????????? Clearly anyone who would be at threat by this doesn’t have parent’s who give a crap. AT WHAT AGE is it appropriate to discuss this with children? A good parent teaches their child about their boundaries, teaches them that their body is something that NO ONE has a right to violate, but it is a slippery slope in how much "negative and scary" information a parent, under normal circumstances, should communicate to a child.

Teachers have enough to deal with in multiple languages, learning disabilities, etc. When did this become a subject appropriate for school kids to be taught by their teachers, some of whom are in their 20’s and still pretty immature?

This is not a topic that I, as a parent, would feel comfortable having someone dealing with with my child. I came from an abusive home and abuse is a real trigger for me. Just how in the world do you imagine creating this kind of curriculum for teachers and schools?

Edit: to the people who have made this a "political" issue – Jesus, grow the hell up.

Time for another tea party!: Yeah, right. I’m really sure you have lots of gay friends and people who discuss having anal sex. What world do you live in?

"By the way, has anyone else ever notice that since they first started teaching sex ed in school, and the more they teach us about it….. more and more kids and young adults get pregnant out of wedlock, contract stds, and the more Men have numerous "babys mama’s"

Also have you ever noticed that all the cities and states with the highest murder rates, the largest gang problems, the most pregnant single mothers with deadbeat dads always seem to vote democrat? and that those states and cities seem to start kids out on sex ed at frighteningly young ages?"

YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG!!! The States with the largest numbers of illegitimate births and murder rates are the SOUTHERN States, the States which are largely Republican AND Religious and statistically are not more stacked towards the racist "baby mama’s" statement you made, which is pretty revealing, IMO. Don’t talk about statistics unless you have some knowledge on it, OK? I can give you the statistics if you want them and they do not bear any resemblance to what you said.

  2. TURNCOATS Collins and Snowe Says:

I agree, but you know, the liberal weenies who think we should all support this don’t pay for the damage it causes, that’s why they support it.
    Liberals don’t give, they take.

  3. Not You Says:

You are supposed to pretend its normal and healthy haven’t you heard?

  4. fanaticsrscary Says:

It should be taught right along with all the other risky sexual activities – like having unprotected sex. Condom use should be encouraged for all sexual activities, heterosexual or homosexual, if it’s not in a committed, monogamous relationship. There’s just no need to single it out from any other sexual activity.

  5. kill_yr_television Says:

Because the sexual acts are neither more nor less risky depending on whether ones partner is opposite sex or identical sex. Comprehensive sex ed — the kind that teaches about contraception and safer sex, as well as abstinence — most certainly informs young people that some sexual acts carry a higher risk of disease transmission than others.

  6. Piers W Says:

yeah like not you was saying, the new norm is to be gay, an outrageous daisy and be anything other than a born and proud Englishman.

I’m not judging, it it merely an observation.

  7. Time for another tea party! Says:

I would not go so far as to say simply gay sex. You pointed out that anal sex is the ideal act to transmit disease. And you are correct. Lesbians are also "gay" however anal sex is not usually high on their priority list. at least none of the ones I know. (i have a lot of gay friends, as a christian its my job not to judge them but to love them) And I know just as many straight couples who enjoy anal sex as i do homosexual male couples. I guess my point is that if you want to be totally honest about the situation, yes we should teach safe sex of all kinds, but we should also teach that anal sex is the most effective way to spread std, and that the only sure fire, cant miss never fail way to not get an std, is abstinence. I know that word gets the left wing all in a tizzy also, they hear the word and immediately add a religious context to it. however, pure science says that if i do not have sex, of any kind, with anyone, and i am not the virgin mary…i will not get pregnant and can almost guarantee 100% that i will not get an std. (a blood transfusion still carries risks as does any surgery.)

By the way, has anyone else ever notice that since they first started teaching sex ed in school, and the more they teach us about it….. more and more kids and young adults get pregnant out of wedlock, contract stds, and the more Men have numerous "babys mama’s"

Also have you ever noticed that all the cities and states with the highest murder rates, the largest gang problems, the most pregnant single mothers with deadbeat dads always seem to vote democrat? and that those states and cities seem to start kids out on sex ed at frighteningly young ages?

Olan black…you are so incredibly misinformed it is mind boggling. i have neices and nephews in school taking sex ed right now and they are not taught abstinence only education. and even if they were, that does not mean that the teacher stands up there and say "you should not ever have sex, its bad." it means that they teach that the only way to be safe is through abstinence. (read above)

the state of california allows the teaching of sex ed as early as first grade with things like "Sex is when a man puts his penis in a womans vagina" If my kid came home from 1st grade and told that is what he learned. i would be on my way to jail for killing a teacher. The state of california also allows the distribution of a pamphlet which asks kids as early as 6th grade "when did you choose to be a heterosexual?" "are you sure your a heterosexual" of course if we asked "when did you choose to be gay" people would lose their mind screaming about it not being a choice they are born gay. well i guess in california, everyone is born gay, and then some choose to be straight instead.

  8. Olan Black Says:

the current sex education used in the schools (if they want to receive federal funds) is abstinence only. so any discussion of sexual transmitted diseases is out the question

  9. Orron Says:

Anal sex is not inherently the cause of sexually transmitted deceases. Exchange of body fluids is. Meaning that if an HIV positive man ejaculates into a woman’s vagina she will be at an extreme risk of being infected, just as much as if he ejaculates into her anal.

The notion that anal sex is more dangerous is due to anti-homo propaganda, by ignorant people or people who purposely distort the facts.

If a guy is homo, horny and/or in love, he is gonna have sex with no-matter what. Only idiot conservatives think that just because they disapprove of certain ways of sex, they can scare teenagers into not having that kind of sex. It’s just like 50 years ago when parents tried to scare their boys into not masturbating. See how well that worked. I don’t think there is a single man alive in human history that hasn’t masturbated.

Teenagers should NOT be taught that gay sex is more dangerous. They should be taught that unprotected sex hetero- or homo, with lots of different people, is dangerous.
